Where are you going?
I am still planning all of the details. My rough itinerary is a short stint through Europe, down to Egypt, across Russia, head through Asia, travel through Australia/Oceana and finally up through S. America.
How long will you be gone?
I am planning on traveling for at least a year.
How much will this trip cost? How can you afford it?
I plan on leaving with at least $16,000 to my name. I am not filthy rich by any means. I have made this trip a priority in my life, therefore have been able to save quite easily. It is amazing how easy it is to save by just taking out some comforts in life such as eating out, movies, and going out drinking with friends. Most of us are under the impression that long term travel would be expensive. It would be if you were to spend most of your time in Europe or Australia for example. You could spend a year in some parts of asia for the price of 2 months rent back home. It also depends on what accommodations you chose. I will be staying in hostels and cheap guesthouses as opposed to five-star hotels.
Will it be dangerous?
No more dangerous than walking around in your city back home. A little bit of common sense and knowledge goes a long way.
What if you get sick?
Its not really a matter of what if, but rather when. The possibility of getting sick during a year whether at home or abroad is pretty high. I will just make sure i slow down during these times and take care of myself the best I can. Being prior military i have had just about every shot possible. which will help combat sickness.
